Need for the Project
State the Need for Your Project. Frequently, grant programs will ask you to explain this need from
several different perspectives:
Why is the "need" and your project of great significance as evidenced by published research in the field?
Your project may be needed or is of critical importance because it addresses an un-served or underserved
population. In this case, you need to establish that the population you intend to serve needs your project.
If this is appropriate, explain the "need" from this perspective.
Your project may be needed because it contributes to preparing professionals in fields or careers where
there are shortages of staff. If this is appropriate, explain the "need" from this perspective.
Your project may be needed because it helps to build or expand your capacity to provide services. If
this is appropriate, explain the "need" from this perspective.
