College GrantsSo you want to go to college but lack the funds. Then there is good news for you. Aside from scholarships, which you may not be awarded, there are hundreds of grants available. Each grant has its own rules and qualifications. Your main problem at first will be sifting through them all to find the one or ones that you are most qualified for.
Even if you do your research online, chances are you will first be bombarded by ads to buy grant guidebooks. They usually run twenty to forty dollars and come with a lot of promises about all the college grant money you can get. Weed through them slowly, some are easier to use than others. If you are studying national need, if you want to work in health care in a rural area, if you are in the top 15% or 20% of your class, if you want to be a nurse but come from a poor family, if you are pursuing a job in public service, if you are a white student who wants to study at a black college, if you are an American Indian who wants a career in healthcare of some kind, if you are a minority student of any kind, if you got high SAT scores, if you want to pursue a career in violence counseling, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, or any healthcare career.
