Debt Reduction Grants

Debt Reduction Grants are extremely hard to find. The reason is that most grants are given to improve the life of a community or in rare cases an individual. The individual most often will have to have disabilities, be elderly, low income, or a soldier hurt in the line of duty. No foundation is going to shell out money to someone who just got carried away by his or her credit cards.

One could suppose that bankruptcy could equal a debt reduction grant since most of your debt would be forgiven. Take care when you are looking for debt reduction grants. If you look them up on the net, you will get a host of companies that will say they are either consolidating your debt, or eliminating your debt. Many of them say they give debt reductions grants, but in reality they are just negotiating for you with your creditors, which is something that you can do for yourself. They often make it sound as if going with their company will save your credit rating. However what most of these companies will do is to make a deal with your creditors for a debt reduction and a smaller monthly payment, they will ask you to pay a lump sum to them every month. From that lump sum they will pay the promised monthly payment to all your creditors and take their monthly fee. Even companies that say they are non- profit have a loophole to make money from you. Before you sign up with any of these companies make sure you do your homework and know exactly what will happen with your creditors and the funds you will be paying these companies.

Unless you find a company that you trust and will work in your best interest, you may just want to see if you can work with your creditors on your own.
