Grants for Teachers There are many different kinds of grants for teachers. Here are some that are available listed below. The Hewlett-Packard Foundation also has grants for teachers and their classrooms. The ACT Awards Programs has two different programs; there are Demonstration programs and Research Programs that can be applied for. KaBOOM gives grants for teachers to build brand new playgrounds at schools that have none or have run down old playgrounds. The Toshiba America Foundation gives grants for teachers in two categories, one is for teacher’s classroom projects under five thousand dollars, and the other will be for teacher’s projects requiring over five thousand dollars. The ING Unsung Heroes Reward is for innovative programs by teachers. The grants are for two thousand dollars each, and the top three prizes are for five thousand, ten thousand, and twenty-five thousand dollars each. These can be awarded for projects in the works or projects that are proposed. The Gannett Foundation is only for teachers and schools located where Gannett owns a radio station or newspaper. The minimum grant is for two hundred and fifty dollars going up to two thousand five hundred dollars. Scholastic Book Grants offers books and other reading materials to schools that have at risk students that can demonstrate a need for them. They do not offer money grants, or awards to individual schools. Bechtel foundation has a math, science, and engineering focus, grants for teachers are usually under five thousand dollars each. AT&T offers grants for teachers who use technology to further advance their classroom teachings.
